Ukraine Mourns Following Russian Missile Strikes

Following one of the deadliest waves of Russian missile strikes in months, which resulted in at least 41 deaths and 166 injuries, 9am news nigeria reports that Ukrainians are marking a day of sorrow.

Ohmatdyt, the primary children’s hospital in Kyiv, was one among the buildings damaged on Monday. Two people died there, and rescue operations carried on into the wee hours of Tuesday.

In a 9am news report, four reported deaths in Russia’s Belgorod area, which borders Ukraine, were attributed to strikes by Ukrainians on the previous day.

Russia claims that components of a Ukrainian air defense missile struck the hospital in Kiev, but it has denied targeting the facility.

On the other hand, Ukraine claims to have discovered parts of a Russian cruise missile there.

Sir Keir Starmer, the recently elected prime minister of the United Kingdom, called the strikes “the most depraved of actions” and promised to keep up his support for Ukraine.

The strikes, according to US President Joe Biden, are a “horrific reminder of Russia’s brutality.” He also promised that Ukraine’s air defense systems will receive more support, 9am news reports.

9am news Ogasabi reported that the russian missile strikes on Monday caused extensive damage to a number of cities, including Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Sloviansk, and Kramatorsk.

During the hospital strike in Kiev, sixteen people—seven of them children—were hurt, and around one hundred buildings were destroyed.

Pictures from the hospital showed kids waiting to be evacuated outside the damaged building while hooked up to IV drips.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko described the recent attacks as some of the worst the city has faced since the war began. In response, he ordered flags to be flown at half-mast and canceled entertainment events scheduled for Tuesday.

The UN’s human rights monitoring mission in Ukraine reported a significant rise in civilian casualties over recent months, noting that May was the deadliest month for civilian deaths in nearly a year.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday morning, the governor of Russia’s Rostov region reported a fire at a power plant, following a Ukrainian drone attack involving “tens” of drones.
