The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that 55,859 Permanent Voter Cards (PVC) were collected in Ondo State ahead of the November 16, 2024, governorship election. The cards, representing 62.2% of the 89,777 available PVCs, were distributed over a five-day period from October 17 to 21, 2024, across all 203 wards in the state.
In a statement released by Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, the commission highlighted that this is the highest PVC collection rate recorded in such a short period since the introduction of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) process in 2015.
INEC is extending the PVC collection exercise to its 18 Local Government Area offices in Ondo State from October 23 to 29, 2024, with daily collection times from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, including weekends. INEC encourages voters who have not yet collected their PVCs to do so, reiterating that PVC collection must be done in person and not by proxy.
Furthermore, with the Ondo governorship election drawing near, INEC continues its commitment to ensuring a smooth and transparent electoral process.
