Ahead of the 2024 governorship elections in Edo State, nine political parties have officially merged into the All Progressives Congress (APC). Chief Sam Arase, the Chairman of the Edo State chapter of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), made the announcement on behalf of the Assembly of Registered Political Parties in Edo State, declaring their support for the APC candidate and expressing confidence in a favorable outcome.
The merging parties include the Social Democratic Party of Nigeria (SDP), Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Action Democratic Party (ADP), All Peoples Party (APP), Accord (A), Young Progressive Party (YPP), Action Alliance (AA), and the National Rescue Movement (NRM).
The coalition has called for a peaceful election and urged citizens of Edo State to vote for the APC in large numbers. They have also instructed their members to work towards the election of the APC’s candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, as the next governor of Edo State.
Furthermore, A total of seventeen parties are contesting in the Edo State governorship elections, set for Saturday, September 21, 2024, with the winner expected after the conclusion of voting.
