As preparations intensify for the November 25, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially released its primary election timetable and announced a N50 million fee for aspirants seeking to run on the party’s platform.

According to the party’s National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Argungu, female aspirants and persons living with disabilities will receive a waiver on the nomination form, requiring them to pay only N10 million for the expression of interest form. Meanwhile, aspirants aged 25 to 40 years will enjoy a 50% discount on the nomination fee but must still pay for the expression of interest form.

APC urged all interested aspirants to visit the party’s national headquarters in Wuse II, Abuja, between February 10 and 25 to obtain their forms.

The APC’s Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the Anambra governorship election, aligned with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable, includes:

  • February 10 – 25: Sale of nomination, expression of interest, and delegate forms.
  • February 26: Deadline for submission of forms.
  • March 7 – 8: Screening of aspirants.
  • March 10: Publication of screening results.
  • April 2: Delegates Congress.
  • April 5: Primary election.
  • April 6: Ratification of primary election results.
  • April 8: Submission of the list of nominated candidates to the National Working Committee.
  • June 11: Official commencement of the APC governorship campaign.
  • November 6: Final campaign activities ahead of the election.

Furthermore, The N50 million fee for the nomination and expression of interest forms has sparked debates among APC members, with some arguing that it may discourage grassroots politicians from participating. However, party officials insist that the pricing is necessary to fund the electoral process and ensure the selection of serious contenders.

Also, With INEC confirming November 8, 2025, as the official date for the Anambra governorship election, the APC is preparing for a competitive primary election and an intense campaign season in the southeastern state.
