9am news nigeria reported that In a significant political escalation, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike challenged Ireti Kingibe, the FCT senator, to test her popularity in the 2027 election, claiming she would not be re-elected. This statement came during the flag-off ceremony for the Mabushi bus terminal, where Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, was present.

In a breaking news 9am reported that Kingibe, a Labour Party member, had criticized the FCT Administration, alleging marginalization and a lack of response to the Karu Market fire. She also mentioned her strained relationship with Wike, who she claimed had refused to interact with her since their first encounter at a Senate Committee hearing.

Wike, angered by Kingibe interview, criticized her performance as Senator, particularly her failure to sponsor laws improving education and health services in the FCT. He defended his and his administration’s performance, stating that despite their short tenure, they had made significant progress.

The 9am news correspondence Ogasabi reported that Wike also addressed issues with the Central Business District plan, noting that land originally designated for the bus terminal and train routes had been allocated, leading to a distortion of the Abuja Master Plan.

Abbas praised the Mabushi Bus Terminal project, highlighting its importance for transportation infrastructure in the FCT. He commended the FCTA’s inclusive strategy, which promotes balanced growth and development, enhancing residents’ quality of life. Abbas also emphasized the need for advanced technology and smart city initiatives in urban planning to help Abuja compete with the world’s leading cities.
