Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has accused Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara of engaging in anti-party activities following the recent local government elections in Rivers State. Wike claims that Fubara backed the Action Peoples Party (APP), which won a sweeping victory, securing chairmanships across the state.
Speaking during his appearance on Politics Today on Channels TV, Wike insisted that he himself had never indulged in anti-party activities. He highlighted the growing rift between him and Governor Fubara regarding control of the political landscape in Rivers State, a tension that came to a head during the elections.
Wike remarked, “Today, people say discipline Wike because he did anti-party, but I say that I did not do anti-party.” He further stated, “The governor sponsored APP, and Bala Mohammed was the one who attended the swearing-in of the APP Chairmen.”
The former Rivers State governor also addressed the internal politics of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), saying, “I said I wouldn’t support injustice, and I have no apology to render to anybody because PDP had agreed on what to do, but he refused.”
Wike’s comments underscore the growing political rivalry between him and Governor Fubara, adding further complexity to Rivers State’s political dynamics after the controversial election.
