Nigerian football stars Victor Osimhen and Oluwatosin Demehin recently reunited at Galatasaray, Turkey, after securing moves to the Turkish club for the 2024/25 season. Osimhen, the Super Eagles striker, and Demehin, a Super Falcons defender, both shared their joy by posting photos on social media, where they appeared in Galatasaray training kits.
Osimhen, who was linked to Chelsea and Al-Ahli during the summer transfer window, eventually joined Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli after being left out of Antonio Conte’s squad. His loan deal will expire at the end of the 2024/25 football season.
Meanwhile, Demehin, who had a standout stint with Reims in the French league, also signed a one-year contract with Galatasaray’s women’s team. She was part of the Super Falcons squad at both the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games.
The camaraderie between the two players was evident when Demehin posted about their meeting, captioning the photos with “Ogo agbaya,” signifying mutual respect and connection.
While Demehin contributes to the women’s side, Osimhen has made an immediate impact with goals and assists for the men’s team. However, the striker is set to miss Nigeria’s upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Libya due to an injury picked up while playing for Galatasaray.
Their shared presence at Galatasaray highlights the global influence of Nigerian talent in football across different leagues and teams.
