Trent Alexander-Arnold Wants Real Madrid Move as Liverpool Exit Nears

Trent Alexander-Arnold is set to leave Liverpool as a free agent this summer, with Real Madrid emerging as his preferred destination.

Liverpool vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold is keen on joining Real Madrid when his contract expires on June 30, 2025. The England international has reportedly turned down an improved contract extension from Liverpool, signaling his desire for a new challenge in LaLiga.

The Spanish giants have been monitoring Alexander-Arnold for nearly two years and have intensified their efforts to secure his signature. Under current transfer regulations, Real Madrid has been free to negotiate with the 25-year-old right-back since January, as he will become a free agent this summer.

Despite ongoing negotiations, Liverpool has yet to be formally informed of an agreement, but sources suggest that Alexander-Arnold is Real Madrid primary summer transfer target. If he completes the move, he will join fellow England international Jude Bellingham at the Santiago Bernabéu.

End of an Era at Liverpool

A product of the Liverpool academy, Alexander-Arnold has made over 300 appearances for the club and is set to mark his 350th game against Everton on April 2. His departure would mark the end of a 21-year association with the Reds, during which he has won every major club honor, including:

  • Premier League
  • Champions League
  • FA Cup
  • Carabao Cup
  • UEFA Super Cup
  • FIFA Club World Cup

Earlier this season, he cemented his status as one of the Premier League’s greatest playmakers, surpassing teammate Andy Robertson to become the defender with the most assists in league history (61).

While the deal is moving forward, negotiations remain complex due to signing-on fees, image rights, and performance-related bonuses. However, Alexander-Arnold’s desire to play under Carlo Ancelotti gives Real Madrid a major advantage in securing his signature.

Liverpool fans now face the reality of losing one of their greatest homegrown talents, while Real Madrid edge closer to adding a world-class full-back to their already star-studded squad.
