In a move to reward patriotism and exceptional national service, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved automatic employment for 200 outstanding National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members in the federal civil service.
The President also approved a N250,000 cash reward and postgraduate scholarships up to PhD level for each honouree. Among the beneficiaries are 10 physically challenged ex-corps members, recognized for their courage and commitment despite sustaining injuries during their service year.
The announcement was made on July 28, 2025, at the combined 2020–2023 President’s NYSC Honours Award ceremony in Abuja. Representing the President, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, praised the honourees for their discipline, patriotism, integrity, and teamwork.
“The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission will immediately begin your employment process,” she announced.
According to the 9am News report, the President emphasized that the recipients’ selflessness and sacrifice reflect the best of Nigerian youth. “We will never forget their sacrifice,” he said, pledging continued support for youth development and empowerment.
