In a significant political move ahead of the October 19 local government elections, Tinok Andrew Nok, a senatorial aspirant in the 2023 general election, formally defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the Labour Party in Kaduna State. Thousands of supporters joined her during the event, reflecting widespread enthusiasm for her decision.
Tinok, the younger sister of Prof. Andrew Nok, the late former Kaduna State Commissioner of Education, cited her belief that the Labour Party aligns with her values of honesty and service to the people. She noted that her move was inspired by Senator Nnadi Usman, the party’s National Caretaker Committee Chairman.
“I am convinced that the Labour Party is the right platform for me to continue serving the people. I look forward to contributing to the party’s growth in Kaduna State,” Tinok remarked.
Jonathan Asake, Labour Party’s 2023 governorship candidate, who represented Senator Usman at the event, welcomed Tinok, expressing confidence that her defection would strengthen the party. Asake also presented the party’s flags ahead of the local elections, signifying Tinok’s full integration into the party.
