Leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have assembled at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja for the highly anticipated National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting. The meeting, held on Blantyre Street in the nation’s capital, has seen heavy security presence as a combined team of armed operatives, including soldiers from the Guards Brigade, have cordoned off all roads leading to the venue. Vehicular and pedestrian movements on Blantyre Street have been restricted, with journalists denied access despite the release of an accredited media list earlier in the day by the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
Among the early attendees are members of the National Working Committee (NWC), the Forum of State Chairmen, former Zamfara State governor Abdulaziz Yari, Minister of Budget and National Planning Atiku Bagudu, and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Benjamin Kalu. The party’s key figures, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, are also expected to participate in the high-level meeting.
The NEC meeting follows a national caucus meeting of the party, which was held a day earlier at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. With major decisions expected to be made, the gathering underscores the party’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its internal structure and address key national issues.
