The Headies Academy has officially released the nominations for the 17th edition of its prestigious music awards. After two successful editions in the United States, the event is making a highly anticipated return to Nigeria. The 2024 ceremony promises to be competitive, spotlighting some of the biggest hits and critically acclaimed albums from 2023 to 2024, 9am news reports.
According to the Headies, only singles, videos, live recordings, EPs, and albums released between April 1, 2023, and July 31, 2024, were considered for nomination. Music materials distributed on digital streaming platforms and physical formats like CDs, cassettes, and vinyl were eligible.
This year’s nominations reflect a diverse mix of emerging talents and industry heavyweights. Rising stars like Taves, Zerrydl, Kaestyle, and Llona will battle for Rookie of the Year, hoping to succeed rapper OdumoduBlvck, who won in 2023.
