A petrol-laden tanker exploded on Karu Bridge, along the Abuja-Nyanya-Keffi Road, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, causing a massive fire that destroyed at least 30 vehicles and sparked panic among motorists.

According to eyewitness reports, the tanker, which was carrying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), lost control and crashed, triggering an explosion that quickly spread to nearby vehicles.

The scene turned chaotic as motorists and passengers fled to escape the inferno. Security forces and emergency responders arrived swiftly, working to contain the fire and rescue trapped victims.

A heavy presence of military personnel, firefighters, and emergency medical teams was observed at the scene. Authorities cordoned off the area and redirected traffic to allow emergency teams to operate effectively.

As of the time of this report, the exact number of casualties remains unknown, but there are fears of multiple fatalities. Emergency responders are still working to control the blaze and rescue victims.
