Interim Super Eagles coach Austin Eguavoen has revealed his 23-man squad for Nigeria’s crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) doubleheader against Libya. The first leg is scheduled to take place in Uyo on Friday, October 11th, with the return leg in Benghazi on Tuesday, October 15th.

Notably missing from the squad is star striker Victor Osimhen, who has been ruled out due to injury, leaving a void in Nigeria’s attack. Another absence is Orlando Pirates defender Olisa Ndah, also sidelined with an injury.

However, there’s good news for Nigeria fans as Chidera Ejuke makes a return to the national team after a two-year hiatus. Ejuke, known for his pace and dribbling abilities, will be expected to add firepower to Nigeria’s flanks. Additionally, Bright Osayi-Samuel returns to the fold after missing the last international window, and in-form forward Ademola Lookman retains his place in the squad.

Victor Boniface will continue to lead the line in Osimhen’s absence, while new call-ups include Amas Obasogie, who recently moved to Ethiopia, and Benjamin Tanimu of English League One side Crawley Town.

The Super Eagles are currently leading their qualification group with four points, following a 3-0 win over Benin and a 1-1 draw against Rwanda in June.
