Nigeria’s Super Eagles have climbed one spot in the latest FIFA men’s rankings, moving from 44th to 43rd globally in the first ranking update of 2025.
Despite the slight improvement, the three-time African champions dropped one position in Africa, falling out of the continent’s top five teams. The highest-ranked teams in Africa now include Morocco, Senegal, Egypt, Algeria, and Cote d’Ivoire.
The Super Eagles were recently in action in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, securing a 2-0 victory against Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali but being held to a 1-1 draw by Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
On the global stage, Argentina extended their lead at the top of the rankings after securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Spain, France, England, and Brazil retained their places in the top five.
With Nigeria aiming for a strong World Cup qualification campaign, the Super Eagles will look to improve their standing in the next FIFA rankings update.
