Nigerian singer Ruger has released his second studio album, BlownBoy Ru, on March 28, 2025, marking a significant step in his musical journey. The project follows his 2023 debut, Ru The World, and continues his mission of expanding his globally adored Afrodancehall sound.

While Ruger maintains his signature high-energy delivery, he emphasizes that this album reflects his artistic growth, with more refined songwriting, deeper emotions, and intentional storytelling.

“With Ru The World, I was proving a point, showing people that Ruger is not just a hitmaker but an artist with depth and range. But on this album, I feel more comfortable in my artistry. My songwriting has evolved, with more intentional lyrics, delivery, and emotions I’m passing across. I still have that raw energy, but now it’s refined, more calculated,” Ruger shared.

BlownBoy Ru explores themes of love, enjoyment, reflection, and living life to the fullest, while blending Afrobeats, Dancehall, R&B, Pop, and even Fuji influences.

Ruger, known for his genre-fluid approach, highlighted his commitment to musical diversity:

“I never want to be boxed into one sound. My music has always been a blend of influences Afrobeats, Dancehall, R&B, and even Pop. I just let myself be free on this album.”

With this project, Ruger cements his place as an artist capable of pushing sonic boundaries while maintaining his unique style.
