Remo Stars have secured the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title in spectacular fashion, wrapping up the championship with three games to spare following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes on Sunday in Ikenne.
Substitute Olamilekan Adedayo was the hero of the day, netting a trademark late strike in the 83rd minute after relentless pressure throughout the match. His goal sealed Remo Stars’ 21st win of the season.
The triumph lifts Remo Stars to 68 points, establishing a commanding 10-point lead over second-placed Rivers United, who can no longer mathematically catch up with three games remaining.
This historic achievement makes Remo Stars the first club from Nigeria’s Southwest region to win the topflight title since Julius Berger’s triumph back in 1991, marking a pivotal moment for football in the region.
Under the guidance of coach Daniel Ogunmodede, Remo Stars have demonstrated tactical discipline, resilience, and attacking flair throughout the season, making them worthy champions of the 2024/2025 NPFL campaign.
With three matches left to play, Remo Stars are expected to continue their dominance and end the season in style, with celebrations already underway in Ikenne and beyond.
