President Bola Tinubu on Friday paid a surprise visits to frontline troops in Katsina State, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to defeating insurgency, terrorism, and banditry. Addressing soldiers under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Tinubu rallied the troops with a defiant message: there would be “no retreat, no surrender” in reclaiming peace and stability across the Northwest.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed that the unannounced visit was devoid of the usual entourage of high-ranking military officers, underscoring Tinubu’s personal commitment to directly assess the operational conditions of the troops and boost their morale.
Speaking to the soldiers, the President emphasized that the battle they are engaged in transcends territorial defence:
“The fight you are waging here in Katsina and across Nigeria is not just a battle for land; it is a battle for the very soul of our nation. Nigeria depends on you, and I am with you today, tomorrow, and always. Stay strong. Stay focused.”
Tinubu acknowledged the serious security challenges facing Nigeria but stressed the importance of unity, courage, and resilience among the armed forces.
“I stand before you not just as your President and Commander-in-Chief but as a fellow patriot, deeply humbled by your courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to the peace, security, and sovereignty of our great nation.”
He praised the bravery and patriotism of the troops, saying that each of their victories contributes to a safer and more stable Nigeria:
“Every inch of ground you hold, every terrorist you neutralize, and every community you secure is a victory for justice, freedom, and the future of our children.”
Recognising the sacrifices made by soldiers many of whom have endured long separations from their families Tinubu commended their selflessness:
“You face danger not for wealth or recognition but for the love of our dear country. That, my brothers and sisters in uniform, is the highest form of patriotism.”
President Tinubu outlined several ongoing and forthcoming initiatives aimed at improving military welfare, pledging robust support in areas such as technology, intelligence, logistics, and prompt payment of allowances.
He stated:
“Your welfare is my top priority. We are committed to ensuring your families are safe, your allowances are paid promptly, your healthcare is guaranteed, and your dignity upheld. Housing programs, family support systems, insurance coverage, and improved remuneration are being implemented without delay.”
The President issued a stern warning to those attempting to destabilize the nation:
“To those who seek to destabilize our nation, be they domestic collaborators or foreign agents, hear this: Nigeria will not bow. Not to fear. Not to terror. Not to treachery. You, the Nigerian military, are the spearhead of this fight. With your valor and discipline, peace shall prevail.”
Tinubu reaffirmed that the Federal Government remains fully committed to ending insecurity through a combination of military strength and welfare reforms, aiming to restore lasting peace and stability nationwide.
