In a bid to fortify the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State for future elections, President Bola Tinubu urged all party leaders and stakeholders to set aside personal differences and collaborate to reclaim control from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2027. Tinubu’s message was delivered at the maiden edition of the Lam Adesina annual lecture series held in Ibadan, themed, “Improving Nigeria’s Governance: Lessons From The Past, Strategies For The Future.”
Represented by Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, President Tinubu emphasized the strategic importance of Oyo State within the APC fold, encouraging leaders to embody the democratic ideals championed by the late Lam Adesina, who served as governor from 1999 to 2003. “Adesina stood for high democratic ideals essential for a government accountable to the people,” Tinubu stated. “To honor his legacy, the progressives in the state must unite… Come 2027, the state must return to the progressive fold.”
Call for Value-Driven Governance
Senate Leader and guest lecturer Opeyemi Bamidele, represented by Shuaib Salisu, highlighted the importance of a restored national value system to foster responsibility, moral integrity, and diligence, countering trends of indiscipline, greed, and corruption.
