During this session, the President addressed on the recent fuel prices hike, explaining that the government’s decision to reform the nation was challenging but necessary. Ogasabi reports that President Tinubu, speaking to the Nigerian community and the Nigerians in the Diaspora Organization in China (NIDO China) at the China World Hotel, highlighted his intention to replicate China’s infrastructure development back home.

In his discussions with Premier Li Qiang and President Xi Jinping, President Tinubu emphasized enhancing cooperation in key areas such as infrastructure, trade, finance, energy, the green economy, and mining. He described his working visit to China as “very good and successful” and mentioned his upcoming attendance at the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit.

President Tinubu reassured Nigerians abroad of opportunities in Nigeria, highlighting that the Bank of Industry (BoI) is ready to collaborate with them on investments. He praised the talents of Nigerians in China, noting their fluency in Mandarin and their potential to influence positive change back home. “The more you expect everything for free, the more costly and delayed meaningful development becomes,” the President remarked.

Dr. Oche Barnabas, President of NIDO China, commended President Tinubu for his dedication to strengthening Nigeria-China relations, particularly in trade, investment, and people-to-people collaboration.
