In a strategic move to strengthen Nigeria’s communications and digital economy sector, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of new members to the board of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF). The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, Idris Olorunnimbe has been named Chairman of the NCC board, succeeding previous leadership, while Dr Aminu Wada will continue in his role as Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Wada was first appointed to the position in October 2023 and confirmed by the Senate in November 2023.
Olorunnimbe brings a wealth of experience, having previously served on the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund Board, where he chaired the Stakeholder and Governance Committee and championed impactful youth employment and entrepreneurship initiatives.

USPF Board Appointments
President Tinubu also approved the constitution of the USPF board, with the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani, serving as Chairman, and Idris Olorunnimbe as Vice Chairman.
