PDP Pledges to Expand Influence and Reclaim Leadership in 2027

The PDP vows to secure more governorship positions and reclaim power at the national level in 2027, citing widespread dissatisfaction with the ruling APC.
PDP Reclaim 2027

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced its commitment to broadening its influence across Nigeria, aiming to secure additional governorship positions and reclaim the presidency in the 2027 general elections. This declaration was made during a visit by the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) to Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, at his residence in Sampou, Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area.

Speaking on behalf of the NWC, PDP National Treasurer Alhaji Ahmed Yayare highlighted the growing dissatisfaction among Nigerians as a driving force for the party’s resurgence.

“The disenchantment across the country is palpable,” Yayare noted. “PDP will produce more governors in 2027 because Nigerians are yearning for change. If we do not take over the leadership of the country, it could mark the end of democracy in Nigeria.”

Yayare emphasized PDP’s unique position as the only credible opposition capable of effectively challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He expressed optimism about the party’s potential to produce Nigeria’s next president and vice president, attributing this to widespread discontent over economic hardship and hunger.

Strategic Plans and Party Unity

The PDP NWC revealed its intention to visit all PDP-governed states to align strategies and foster unity among party members ahead of the 2027 elections. National Secretary Ude Okoye reiterated the importance of repositioning the party and presenting Nigerians with a credible leadership alternative.

“We are ready to strengthen the PDP and demonstrate that there is a better option for Nigerians,” Okoye stated.

He praised Governor Diri for his progressive leadership, describing him as a role model for governance.

Governor Diri’s Call for Unity

Governor Douye Diri stressed the importance of unity among PDP governors, urging them to prioritize the party’s collective progress over personal ambitions.

“We need to work closely together and do what is right without fear or favour,” Diri said. “Consensus-building should always be our first option for resolving issues. Running to the courts at every disagreement weakens us.”

Meanwhile, Diri reaffirmed his loyalty to the PDP and warned against internal sabotage, urging members to strengthen the party from within. He also supported the idea of forming a coalition to challenge APC dominance, emphasizing the PDP’s critical role in creating a “mega party” capable of leading Nigeria out of its current struggles.

furthermore, With a strategic focus on addressing public dissatisfaction and fostering unity, the PDP is positioning itself as a beacon of hope for Nigerians. Also, As preparations for the 2027 elections intensify, the party’s resolve to reclaim leadership at the national level underscores its commitment to offering a viable alternative to the ruling APC.
