PDP National Working Committee has nullified the suspension of its BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara calling the move unconstitutional

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared the suspension of its Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, as unconstitutional and void, 9am news reports

In a statement on Tuesday, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, criticized the Abia State chapter’s decision to suspend Wabara, stating that it violated the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017) and lacked due process.

“For emphasis, no State Working Committee has the power to suspend or take any disciplinary action against a member of the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Party without due recourse to the NWC,” Ologunagba noted.

The Abia PDP had suspended Wabara for endorsing Governor Alex Otti’s second term bid just months into his administration. However, the NWC cited Section 57 (7) of the PDP Constitution, which explicitly states that only the NEC can entertain disciplinary actions against NEC members, including Wabara.

Condemning the suspension as reckless and unconstitutional, the PDP leadership warned those behind it to retrace their steps or face disciplinary measures aimed at protecting the party’s stability.
