PDP Governors Urge President Tinubu to Address Economic Hardship

Governors elected on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform have urged President Bola Tinubu to review his administration’s economic policies to address the hardship affecting Nigerians. This call was made in a communiqué issued at the end of a two-day meeting in Jos, Plateau State, chaired by Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed.

Economic Concerns and Policy Recommendations

In the communiqué, the forum stated:

“The Forum empathizes with Nigerians groaning under the oppressive economic hardship foisted on the nation by the policies and decisions of the APC-led Federal Government. We call on the President to urgently review macroeconomic and fiscal policies to address the welfare and well-being of Nigerians.”

The governors also pledged to implement aggressive state-level policies aimed at reducing hardship and fostering progress.

The communiqué urged the judiciary to safeguard democracy and called on the National Assembly to strengthen electoral laws to prevent future malpractices.

Condolences and Developmental Highlights

The forum extended condolences to:

  • Governor Eno Bassey of Akwa Ibom State on the loss of his wife.
  • Plateau State residents affected by the Katako Market fire.
  • Jigawa State residents impacted by a recent tanker explosion that claimed lives and caused injuries.

The governors also commended the Plateau State Government for visible improvements in social services, tourism, and transportation, expressing hope for similar achievements nationwide post-2027.

The meeting was attended by PDP governors, deputies, and principal organs of the party, including:

  • Senator Bala Mohammed (Bauchi State) – Chairman, PDP Governors’ Forum.
  • Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau State) – Host Governor.
  • Governors from Taraba, Adamawa, Oyo, and Zamfara States.

Representatives from Delta and Enugu States also participated.
