9am News report that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to comprehensive infrastructure development across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), describing it as proof of his vision to build “a city that works for everyone.”
Speaking at the commissioning of Collector Road CN8 (Asuquo Okon Way) linking Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) to Arterial Road N1 and other connecting roads in Dakibiyu District, Jabi, Abuja, Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, stressed that every new road is a step toward urban renewal and economic growth.
“Our goal is to build a capital that works for everyone. Our vision for Abuja is not limited to its glittering centre. We are equally committed to its outskirts, its margins, and hidden corners where dreams often struggle to breathe,” Tinubu said.
He described working cities as signs of purposeful governance, noting that functioning infrastructure inspires investor confidence and restores citizens’ dignity.
“Every road we build, every bridge we complete, every community we connect is a firm step towards a more inclusive, more equitable Nigeria,” the President stated.
According to Tinubu, the roads will ease congestion, boost commerce, and enhance daily life for residents.
“When a city works when its roads are paved, when its lights stay on and when its arteries flow without congestion it tells the world that its government is not just present but purposeful,” he said. “Shops will open, markets will thrive, children will reach school faster, and emergency services will arrive quicker.”
The President highlighted that the newly inaugurated roads will revive communities whose aspirations were once stifled by poor infrastructure.
9am News report that Tinubu praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and his team for delivering impactful projects with urgency and high standards.
“Wike’s sense of urgency in the execution of these projects is well known to Nigerians. This administration remains steadfast in its support for the FCTA. We will continue to provide the resources, policy backing, and institutional cooperation needed to ensure projects like these are delivered on time and to the highest standards,” Tinubu assured.
The FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, thanked Tinubu for the Federal Executive Council’s backing since the project began in October 2024.
“Your Excellency, I thank you for your continued support, and we will continue to solicit more,” Wike said.
FCT Minister of State, Mariya Mahmud, also commended the President’s consistent support, while the Secretary of the Police Service Commission, Onyemuche Nnamani, praised Tinubu’s bold push for infrastructure renewal.
