The Ogun State Security Network, popularly known as the Amotekun Corps, has apprehended five suspects linked to a violent robbery, assault, and malicious damage incident involving two tricycle riders along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. The attack reportedly occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Monday.

According to a statement issued by the Corps Commander, Brig. Gen. Alade Adedigba (retd), the arrested suspects are Clement Samuel (30), Clement Monday (23), Olabode Yusuf (36), Sodipo Taiwo (34), and Ogunsakin Yemisi Opeyemi (22). They were nabbed during a coordinated patrol led by the Ifo Command Coordinator, Omotunde Dotun, following credible intelligence of a robbery in the Apomu area.

The victims, identified as Dada Oluwaseun (29) and Oluwajuwonlo Moshood (24), were attacked while lawfully operating their tricycles. They recounted that the assailants fired a locally-made pistol, smashed their tricycle windshields, and inflicted severe injuries. The attackers allegedly stole two high-end mobile phones—Samsung and iPhone models—along with cash totaling N40,000.

Following the incident, operatives tracked and arrested the suspects in Oke-Lemo, Papalanto, and Apomu, spanning Ifo and Ewekoro Local Government Areas. The victims later identified Olabode Yusuf and Clement Samuel as the primary perpetrators, both reportedly notorious for previous criminal activities in the area.

Investigations revealed the suspects, referred to locally as “customs camp boys,” were in possession of a locally-made pistol, charms, and a jackknife—items believed to have been used during the crime. The attack left the victims not only physically injured but also traumatized, with significant damage done to their tricycles.

Commending the swift response, Brig. Gen. Adedigba praised the operatives’ bravery in foiling the robbery and arresting the culprits. He described the operation as a “significant victory” in the fight against crime and reiterated Amotekun’s commitment to ensuring community safety across Ogun State.

All suspects, alongside the recovered evidence, have been handed over to the appropriate police authorities for further investigation and prosecution.
