9am new nigeria reports that the Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru has officially signed a loan deal with Lazio, a Serie A club, with the option to buy from Turkish Super Lig side Hatayspor. On their website, Lazio verified the loan deal on Saturday.
The Dele-Bashiru signed a one-year loan agreement with Lazio, with the option to buy if specific performance requirements are satisfied. In a 9am news reports earlier this week, Lazio had to pay about €2 million in fees to obtain the loan, and they would also need to spend a further €4 million to finalize the agreement.
The 23-year-old, who signed with Hatayspor as a free agent at the start of the previous season, is still bound to Turkey through 2026, but at the end of the 2024–2025 season, he will be entering the last year of his contract.
According to 9am news correspondence Ogasabi, the player’s contract with Hatayspor included a €7 million release clause. This indicates that Lazio was able to negotiate a lower price. Since arriving in Rome on Thursday, Dele-Bashiru has finished the required medical examinations and contract signatures.
He began playing for the Manchester City youth squad when he was eight years old, and in July 2020, he signed a contract for an undisclosed sum to join Sheffield Wednesday. It was confirmed on July 6, 2023, that he has signed a three-year contract with Turkish club Hatayspor.
In his debut Süper Lig season, he scored eight goals, sharing the team’s scoring lead with Carlos Strandberg. Among those goals was a pivotal one on the last matchday, which helped his team defeat Rizespor 2-0 and ensure their place in the top division.
