Nigerian rapper OdumoduBlvck emerged victorious in the coveted Next Rated category at the 17th edition of the Headies Award, held on Sunday at the Landmark Event Centre, Lagos.
The Next Rated award, widely regarded as one of the most prestigious categories at the Headies, recognises the most promising and talented emerging artiste in Nigeria’s vibrant music scene.
OdumoduBlvck’s win was one of the highlights of the night, as the rapper brought his mother and entire crew on stage in an emotional celebration. Sharing a heartfelt moment, he recounted his mother’s unwavering support and how she gave birth to him in her late thirties, always believing he was destined for greatness.
“This is for my mother,” OdumoduBlvck said, as the crowd erupted into applause and cheers, while his mother stood proudly on stage surrounded by friends, family, and supporters.
This year’s Headies Awards, themed “Back to Base,” marked a significant return to Nigeria after two years of hosting ceremonies in the United States. The theme underscored the importance of cultural identity while celebrating innovation and creativity in African music.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State was among the notable dignitaries in attendance, alongside an array of celebrities, industry leaders, and fans.
Tanzanian singer Juma Jux and his wife Priscilla Ojo also made headlines, marking their first public appearance together since their wedding.
The 2025 Headies Awards featured 31 categories, showcasing the richness and diversity of the African soundscape.
