Rivers United Win South-Southern Derby

Rivers United secured a thrilling 2-1 win against Akwa United in the South-Southern derby, extending their unbeaten run to five games. Stephen Manyo and Ndifreke Effiong were the goalscorers for Rivers United, while Friday Apollo netted the equaliser for Akwa United before Effiong’s 85th-minute winner.

Kwara United Shock Remo Stars

Kwara United stunned Remo Stars with a 1-0 victory at the Ilorin Township Stadium. Despite Remo Stars being reduced to 10 men after Sani Faisal’s 47th-minute red card, AbdulRaheem Shola found the back of the net in the 62nd minute to hand Kwara United the win, dropping Remo Stars to second place.

Ahmed Musa Shines for Kano Pillars

Ahmed Musa led Kano Pillars to a 2-0 win over Sunshine Stars. Musa scored a brace, with goals in the 5th and 52nd minutes. He had a chance to complete his hat-trick but missed a penalty after Ogechukwu Ogbu was sent off.

Enyimba’s Dominant Display

Enyimba delivered the biggest win of matchday 5, beating Katsina United 3-0 with three first-half goals from Ekene Awazie, Ifeanyi Ihemekwele, and Kalu Nweke in Aba.

Other Results

Heartland recorded their first win of the season, defeating Nigeria Tornadoes 2-0 in Owerri. Meanwhile, Nasarawa United and Bayelsa United played out a goalless draw, and Rangers won the Oriental derby 1-0 against Abia Warriors in Enugu.
