NNPP Sweeps Kano Local Government Elections, Wins All 44 Council Seats

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) claims victory in all 44 local government areas in Kano State, KANSIEC reports.

The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has announced the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) as the winner of all 44 Local Government chairmanship seats and 484 councillorship positions in the recently concluded elections. Professor Sani Lawan Malunfashi, Chairman of KANSIEC, declared the results at the commission’s headquarters in Kano, 9am News reports.

According to Professor Malunfashi, the commission successfully fulfilled its constitutional mandate by planning, coordinating, and conducting the elections across Kano State. “The exercise was largely peaceful and successful in all ramifications,” he said, adding that the commission deeply appreciates the roles played by critical stakeholders, including security agencies, media, political party leaders, civil society groups, and community leaders, in ensuring the peaceful outcome.

The commission also expressed gratitude to the people of Kano State for their collective support and positive reception of the electoral process. Professor Malunfashi highlighted that the peaceful nature of the elections reflects widespread public approval of the process, underscoring its credibility and fairness.

Six political parties contested in the election, namely Action Alliance (AA), African Action Congress (AAC), Accord Party (ACCORD), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). The NNPP emerged as the decisive winner, sweeping all chairmanship and councillorship seats across Kano 44 local government in the elections.

This landmark victory reinforces NNPP’s influence in Kano and underscores the success of grassroots democracy in the state.
