Popular Nigerian TikToker Ojesanmi Afeez, widely known as Salo, has been shot and robbed in the Lekki area of Lagos State. According to reports, the incident occurred late Thursday, October 10, 2024. Fellow TikToker Tunde Perry, who frequently joins Salo on live streams, broke the news of the attack on social media.
Salo, who is also known by his online moniker “Ogba President,” is currently fighting for his life at Perez Medcare Hospital in Lekki Phase 2 after being shot in the leg by assailants who robbed him of his gold chain. Tunde Perry shared, “They have shot Salo in the leg. They have also stolen his gold chain at one filling station in Lekki. Some boys rushed him to the hospital, and I have gone there now.”
Disturbing Scene at the Crime Location
A video circulating online shows Salo’s white AMG GLE 43 Mercedes Benz stained with blood. There is a bullet casing visible on the driver’s seat, indicating the severity of the attack.
An eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, described Salo’s condition as critical. The eyewitness stated, “When I got to the hospital, I was not allowed to enter. The nurse just said we should keep praying for him because his condition is critical.”
The witness added, “We don’t know who he offended. Just like he might not know too. You cannot be wiser and tricky than the person watching you. I just advise him to be careful if he eventually survives this.”
Call for Security
Before the attack, a video surfaced showing Salo pleading with his manager, Sula, for security protection. In the clip, he can be heard saying, “Sula, please provide me with security. I ought to have had. Help me with one mopol, Sula, my daddy.”
The plea for security came amid tensions between Salo and another TikToker, Tobi Nation, over a dispute related to a property purchase. Salo had claimed to have introduced Tobi Nation to the real estate agent who facilitated the sale of a Lekki property, a claim Tobi Nation has since denied. However, reacting to the attack, Tobi Nation expressed sadness, revealing that he visited the hospital but was not allowed to enter.
Lagos Police Investigation
Confirming the incident, Lagos State Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin stated, “Salo was truly shot yesterday at Admiralty Way, Lekki. We have begun investigating the incident and I will give you further updates.”
The shooting of Salo has sparked widespread concern among fans and fellow content creators, with many calling for swift justice and heightened security measures for public figures in Nigeria.
