The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has officially opened its online portal for student loan applications for the 2025/2026 academic session, providing eligible students across tertiary institutions with access to financial aid for their studies.
In a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday, NELFUND announced that the application window will run from Thursday, October 23, 2025, to Saturday, January 31, 2026.
The Fund expressed appreciation to tertiary institutions nationwide for their cooperation and urged them to continue working closely with NELFUND to ensure a seamless and inclusive loan process.
All accredited tertiary institutions have been directed to update and upload verified data of both returning and newly admitted students on the NELFUND Student Verification Portal a mandatory step for applicants to be eligible for the loan.
According to NELFUND, fresh students can apply using their Admission Number or JAMB Registration Number in place of a Matriculation Number. Institutions were also encouraged to offer flexible registration and fee deadlines for students awaiting loan approval or disbursement.
The agency further advised institutions that have not commenced their 2025/2026 academic calendar to notify NELFUND with their approved schedules for better coordination.
“NELFUND appeals to all institutions to consider temporary registration measures for students whose loan applications are being processed to ensure that no student loses access to education due to financial constraints,” the statement read.
For technical assistance, students and institutions were directed to contact NELFUND through its official communication channels or verified social media handles on X, Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
