The National Examination Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), conducted 55 days ago. According to the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, 828,284 candidates, representing 60.55% of the 1,367,736 candidates who sat for the exam, passed with five credits including English and Mathematics.
Furthermore, a total of 1,147,597 candidates recorded five credits and above, irrespective of English and Mathematics. Wushishi also noted a significant drop in exam malpractices, with 8,437 candidates involved, compared to 22,030 in 2023.
He revealed that 40 schools across 17 states were caught in mass cheating and will face sanctions, while one school in Ekiti was recommended for de-recognition for cheating in multiple core subjects. Additionally, 21 supervisors were recommended for blacklisting for poor supervision and misconduct.
Out of the 1,376,423 registered candidates, 706,950 were male, and 669,473 were female, with 2,267 candidates having special needs. Wushishi encouraged all candidates to check their 2024 results on the NECO website.
