The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has neutralised more than 25 terrorists in a series of coordinated night air operations in the Bula area of Yobe State and the Banki axis of Borno State.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Saturday in Abuja by the Director of Public Relations and Information of the NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
According to Ejodame, the operation took place on September 18, 2025, after credible intelligence was received from ground troops operating in the region.
He explained that a coordinated force package, which included Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets alongside strike aircraft, tracked terrorist movements and detected multiple clusters of fighters north of Banki.
Real-time updates from the ISR platform were relayed to both ground troops and base operations, ensuring a synchronised response.
“Subsequently, the strike aircraft engaged the terrorists in three successive precision strikes on their movement routes and assembly areas, effectively neutralising more than 25 fighters. Post-strike surveillance confirmed ground forces in their defensive positions with no further threats observed in the area,” the statement read in part.
Ejodame noted that the successful airstrike underscores NAF’s commitment to denying terrorists freedom of action and providing decisive support to ground forces under Operation HADIN KAI.
Broader Military Gains Against Terrorists
The statement comes just days after Nigerian troops killed three commanders of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) during a foiled ambush in Cross-Kauwa, Lake Chad region.
The slain commanders were identified as Modu Dogo Munzir of Dogon Chukun, an unidentified Munzir, and Abu Aisha, Qaid of Tumbun Mota. Eight other terrorists were also neutralised during the ambush.
The terrorists had attempted to strike with a command improvised explosive device (IED) a day earlier, but security forces repelled the attack, further weakening ISWAP’s presence in the region.
Military sources emphasise that these successful operations demonstrate Nigeria’s resolve to secure the North-East, disrupt terrorist networks, and safeguard communities vulnerable to insurgent attacks.
With NAF’s precision air operations and ground troop resilience, the counter-terrorism fight continues to record gains despite ongoing challenges.
