Mohamed Salah Wins Record Third PFA Player of the Year Award

Mohamed Salah makes history as the first player to win the PFA Player of the Year award three times, after leading Liverpool to the Premier League title.
Salah PFA Award

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has been named the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Player of the Year, becoming the first footballer to win the prestigious award three times.

Salah, 33, enjoyed an outstanding 2024/25 campaign, finishing as the Premier League’s top scorer with 29 goals while also registering 18 assists. His contributions powered Liverpool to the league title, finishing 10 points clear of second-placed Arsenal.

In addition to the PFA accolade, Salah collected the Premier League Player of the Season, the Golden Boot, and the Playmaker award, making him the first player in Premier League history to secure all three major individual honours in a single season.

The Egyptian forward, who joined Liverpool in 2017, had previously won the PFA award in 2018 and 2022. He topped a six-man shortlist that included Liverpool teammate Alexis Mac Allister, Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Arsenal’s Declan Rice, and Chelsea’s Cole Palmer.

Salah, who recently signed a two-year contract extension in April to end speculation linking him with a Saudi Pro League move, continues to cement his legacy as one of the greatest players in Liverpool’s history.

Other PFA Award Winners

  • Young Player of the Year (Men’s): Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers, 23, after scoring eight league goals and netting four in the Champions League, including a hat-trick against Celtic.
  • Women’s Player of the Year: Arsenal star Mariona Caldentey, who scored nine league goals and eight Champions League goals to inspire Arsenal to European glory over Barcelona.
  • Women’s Young Player of the Year: Canadian forward Olivia Smith, Liverpool’s top scorer last season with nine goals. She has since joined Arsenal in a record £1 million transfer, making her the first female player to command a seven-figure fee.

The PFA also unveiled the Premier League Team of the Year, with Liverpool dominating the lineup:

  • Goalkeeper: Matz Sels (Nottingham Forest)
  • Defenders: Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool), Milos Kerkez (Bournemouth), William Saliba (Arsenal), Gabriel Magalhaes (Arsenal)
