Liverpool delivered a statement victory at the Etihad Stadium, defeating Manchester City 2-0 to move 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table. Despite City controlling much of the possession, Jurgen Klopp’s side showcased defensive resilience and clinical finishing to seal an impressive win.

The breakthrough came in the 14th minute, when Mohamed Salah scored his 30th goal of the season, firing home a deflected strike after a clever corner routine involving Dominik Szoboszlai.

Liverpool doubled their lead eight minutes before halftime through a well-worked team move. Salah turned provider, playing a precise ball to Szoboszlai, who calmly slotted past Ederson to silence the Etihad crowd.

Liverpool almost added a third just 11 minutes into the second half, when Szoboszlai set up Curtis Jones for a tap-in. However, VAR ruled out the goal, offering City a lifeline. But despite Pep Guardiola’s side pushing forward, they failed to create clear-cut chances, as Liverpool’s backline stood firm.

Szoboszlai, who was instrumental in both goals, praised the team’s resilience:

“We gave everything. They had the ball most of the game, but in the end, the result is what matters, and we are happy to take three points home.”

Meanwhile, Salah emphasized Liverpool’s title ambitions:

“It’s incredible, especially in the title race. Hopefully, we keep our composure because sometimes the pressure gets to us. We need another title.”

With this win, Liverpool extend their lead at the top, while Manchester City remain fourth, level on points with Newcastle United. As the title race intensifies, Liverpool look poised to reclaim the Premier League crown if they maintain this form.
