Sky Bet Championship side Leeds United are reportedly eyeing a summer move for Porto left-back Zaidu Sanusi, as the club looks to bolster its squad ahead of the new season.

According to Africafoot, Leeds have already initiated preliminary talks with Porto over a possible transfer for the 27-year-old Nigerian international Zaidu.

Sanusi has struggled for game time this season, making only three league appearances for Porto due to injury setbacks. His latest injury came right after returning from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where he represented Nigeria in Cote d’Ivoire earlier this year.

Despite his limited role in Porto’s squad, the Whites are said to be keen on securing his services for a reported fee of €2 million.

Leeds’ interest in Sanusi highlights their ambition to strengthen their defense as they push for a return to the English Premier League. Since joining Porto from Santa Clara in 2020, Sanusi has been a key figure in the Portuguese side’s domestic and European campaigns.

A move to Leeds could offer the versatile full-back a fresh start and regular playing time, which he has struggled to find at Porto in recent months.

While discussions are still in the early stages, Leeds United’s determination to reinforce their squad could see the deal materialize in the coming weeks.
