The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Lokoja on Monday.

Governor Ododo urged the newly inaugurated local government officials to sustain the momentum of development at the grassroots by implementing projects and programs that improve the quality of life for their constituents. He emphasized the importance of security, urging the chairmen to ensure the protection of lives and property in their respective areas.

The governor highlighted several key areas where the new chairmen should focus their efforts, including health, agriculture, social welfare, and empowerment programs. “The local government is the most important and closest tier of government to the people,” Governor Ododo remarked. He charged the newly elected chairmen to ensure that they involve the people in their activities, promoting inclusion and ensuring that governance is brought closer to the grassroots in kogi state.

Governor Ododo also called on the local government chairmen to maintain transparency and accountability in managing their affairs. Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in chairmen, Hon. Tosin Olokun, chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area, assured the governor of their commitment to complementing the state’s development efforts. He pledged to focus on projects that will transform the lives of the people and to promote unity, regardless of political differences.

“We will focus on development and unite our people for the betterment of Kogi State, in line with the agenda of the state government,” Olokun said.
