Ogasabi on 9am news Nigeria brings you breaking news: Following the recent Supreme Court judgment mandating states to conduct Local Government Councils elections no later than October 2024, the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSAIC) has rescheduled the state’s LG elections to October 26, 2024. The Commission’s chairman, Professor Sani Lawan Malumfashi, made this announcement on Friday while addressing newsmen in his office.
In light of the new schedule, the release of guidelines and notifications for the conduct of elections has been moved to August 31, 2024, from the previously planned date of August 15. Professor Malumfashi also stated that party primaries and the submission of candidate names to the Commission are now scheduled between September 3 and September 14, 2024.
The sale of forms will take place from September 15 to September 26, 2024, with the submission of completed forms set for September 27 to October 8, 2024. Verification of candidates, submission of political party agents’ names, and other necessary changes will occur from October 9 to October 18, 2024.
Finally, the publication of eligible candidates’ names and election dates will happen between October 20 and October 26, 2024. The declaration of results and any potential run-off is scheduled from October 26 to November 9, 2024.
