Juventus have revived their interest in signing Nigerian star striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli, with fresh talks held in the past 48 hours to accelerate a potential summer deal, according to Sky Sport Italia.
Osimhen, 25, has been high on Juventus’ shortlist this transfer window alongside Canadian forward Jonathan David, but the Nigerian now tops their priority list as the club looks to rebuild its attack for the new season.
However, any deal for Osimhen remains complicated. His current €75 million release clause is only valid for foreign clubs a move designed by Napoli to deter direct Serie A rivals from poaching their star forward. For Juventus, Napoli are reportedly demanding at least €80 million, wary of repeating the scenario from 2016 when Gonzalo Higuaín switched from Napoli to Juventus for €100 million and fired the Turin side to multiple titles.
Despite his reputation as one of Europe’s top strikers, interest from Premier League giants has cooled. Liverpool, Arsenal, and Manchester United have yet to make any concrete moves this summer, with no offers tabled so far.
9am News report that the Nigerian international, who has been linked with big-money moves to England and the Middle East, recently turned down a massive proposal from Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, who were ready to pay his full €75 million clause and offer him a staggering €30 million annual salary. Osimhen rejected the deal, signalling his clear desire to remain in Europe and compete at the highest level.
Juventus’ renewed pursuit comes as the club seeks to strengthen its attacking firepower and regain its place among Serie A’s title contenders. But given the strained relations between Juventus and Napoli over past transfers, the Bianconeri will likely face a tense and expensive negotiation to land Osimhen.
