Former Lagos State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has officially rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC). He made the announcement during a press conference in Lagos on Monday, just weeks after leaving the PDP.
Jandor, who was the PDP’s flagbearer in the 2023 Lagos gubernatorial election, explained that his return to the APC was driven by a pragmatic political decision. He stated that the ruling party prioritizes winning, regardless of who is on the ballot.
“We have decided to return to the All Progressives Congress, APC,” he declared. Addressing potential criticism, he added, “Before you are quick to remind me of the reasons why I dumped APC, I want to say that there is a Yoruba adage that says, ‘if a woman has not tried two husbands, she would not know which one is better.’”
Political Maneuvering Behind the Move
Jandor had previously left the PDP on March 3, 2025, citing what he described as anti-party activities among some of the party’s leaders in Lagos State. His departure sparked speculations about his next political move.
Following his exit, he met with several high-profile politicians, including President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. His meetings with political heavyweights across party lines fueled discussions about his possible return to the APC, which has now been confirmed.
Jandor’s defection back to the ruling party marks a significant shift in Lagos State’s political landscape as preparations intensify for future elections.
