JAMB Remits Over N6bn to Nigerian Government in 2024

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) remitted over N6bn to the Nigerian government in 2024

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a remittance of over N6 billion to the Nigerian government for 2024. This development reflects the board’s commitment to transparency and prudent management of resources under the leadership of its Registrar/Chief Executive, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede.

According to a bulletin released on Monday by Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, the board generated a total income of N22,996,653,265.25 in 2024. From this, N6,034,605,510.69 was remitted directly to the federal government as part of its operating surplus.

Furthermore, JAMB highlighted that the reduction of N1,500 in Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) form fees for candidates significantly increased the effective remittance to N9,013,068,510.69. The reduction benefited a considerable number of candidates, further aligning with the board’s mission to ease financial burdens on students and parents.

JAMB stated:

“In 2024, the board remitted N6,034,605,510.69 to the government. When combined with the N1,500 reduction per form for candidates multiplied by the number of candidates that benefited in 2024, the total remittance by JAMB would amount to N9,013,068,510.69.”

This marks another milestone in JAMB’s consistent contributions to the national treasury, with the board having remitted over N50 billion in the past seven years. These contributions underscore JAMB’s efficiency and transparency in managing its operations and finances.

The remittance comes after the successful conduct of the 2024 UTME, reflecting JAMB dedication to ensuring seamless examination processes and equitable financial practices.

As JAMB continues its mission of supporting Nigeria’s educational framework, it remains a leading example of accountability and resourcefulness in the public sector.
