The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced an extension of the ongoing collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Anambra State.

This decision follows several appeals from citizens, political stakeholders, and civil society groups requesting additional time for eligible voters to pick up their PVCs ahead of the state’s forthcoming governorship election.

According to a statement signed by INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, the exercise which was initially slated to end on Sunday, October 26, 2025 will now continue from Wednesday, October 29, to Sunday, November 2, 2025.

The extension applies to voters who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise across Anambra. Eta-Messi urged all registered voters yet to collect their PVCs to seize this extended window to do so at any of the 326 designated collection centres across the state’s registration areas (wards).

“The Commission once again reiterates that PVC collection is strictly in person, as no collection by proxy is allowed,” the statement emphasized.

INEC expressed appreciation for the patience, enthusiasm, and cooperation of Anambra residents, urging them to take advantage of this opportunity to collect their PVCs and prepare to participate actively in the upcoming governorship election.

The extension is part of INEC’s broader commitment to ensure no eligible voter is disenfranchised, as the state gears up for one of the most closely watched governorship polls in recent years.
