The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ondo State has commenced the distribution of non-sensitive election materials for the November 16, 2024, off-cycle governorship election. This was confirmed by the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Oluwatoyin Babalola, during a media briefing in Akure on Saturday.
Babalola revealed that a significant portion of the materials has already been distributed to the 18 local government areas of the state. The REC assured that these materials are stored securely with the support of relevant security agencies. She further explained that the non-sensitive materials would be batched for Registration Areas (RAs) and polling units, ready to be dispatched on the eve of the election.
Babalola also disclosed that the total number of registered voters in Ondo State stands at 2,053,061, with 50.36% male and 49.64% female voters. She emphasized that BVAS (Bimodal Voter Accreditation System) would be deployed across all 3,933 polling units to ensure a free, fair, and credible election.
The commissioner reassured voters that INEC is collaborating with security agencies to ensure the safety of the election process, and that every vote cast in Ondo state will count.
