British actor Idris Elba has revealed his intention to move to Africa within the next five to ten years, aiming to bolster the continent’s film industry. Speaking at a film industry event in Ghana, Elba, whose roots trace back to Ghana and Sierra Leone, expressed his dedication to supporting and uplifting local filmmaking.
He teased upcoming projects to establish film studios in Zanzibar, Tanzania, and Accra, Ghana, as part of his broader vision to foster a stronger African film sector. Elba, best known for his roles in Hollywood, believes that being on the continent is essential to achieving his goals.
“I would certainly consider settling down here… It’s going to happen in the next five to ten years, God willing. I’m here to bolster the film industry… I won’t be able to do that from overseas,” said Elba.
