Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has signed the 2025 budget of ₦790 billion into law, just ten days after presenting the draft proposal to the State House of Assembly. The budget prioritizes rural development, with ₦551.6 billion allocated for capital expenditure and ₦238.9 billion for recurrent expenditure.
During the signing ceremony, Governor Sani praised the Kaduna State House of Assembly for its swift and thorough review of the budget. The legislature had invited all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to defend their budget proposals in what the governor described as one of the most robust budget defense sessions in Kaduna’s history.
He noted the bipartisan cooperation within the House, stating, “Here in Kaduna State, we have the best House of Assembly in the country. They have set aside politics to focus on governance.”
Commissioner of Planning and Budget, Alhaji Mukhtar Ahmed Morovia, provided a breakdown of the sectoral allocations:
- Education: 26%
- Health: 16%
- Public Infrastructure: 13%
- Agriculture: 9.5%
The Commissioner emphasized the administration’s focus on human capital development and agriculture. He highlighted the governor’s commitment to raising agriculture’s contribution to Kaduna’s GDP, which currently stands at 42%.
The Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Liman, lauded the administration’s efforts to deliver developmental projects and improve governance. He noted the governor’s dedication to completing abandoned projects and initiating new ones, especially in rural areas.
“This budget reflects the determination of the Uba Sani-led administration to create an enabling environment for development,” the Speaker stated.
The 2025 budget marks another milestone in Kaduna State’s governance, focusing on infrastructure, education, and agricultural growth for sustainable development.
