Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has dismissed remarks by APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje about capturing Osun and Oyo states as a misguided distraction. Speaking during a project commissioning event in Osun State, Makinde highlighted the significant progress achieved under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, urging Osun residents to stand firm in their support for another term of governance.
Makinde applauded Adeleke’s commitment to completing projects inherited from previous administrations, a principle he shares in Oyo State. He cited the completion of the Osogbo-Ikirun road, a project initiated by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola but completed under Adeleke’s administration, as a testament to governance that prioritizes people over politics.
Addressing the people of Osun State, Makinde said, “This road project is a clear example of leadership that values the people’s resources. It doesn’t matter which administration started it; what matters is delivering results.” He also congratulated Adeleke for the “Light Up Osun” project, noting its transformative impact on the state’s infrastructure and economy.
Pro-people Policies and Visionary Leadership
Makinde emphasized the importance of visionary leadership in addressing Nigeria’s economic challenges, praising Adeleke for implementing impactful policies. “One of the best ways to tackle our economic issues is through projects and policies that directly improve people’s lives,” he stated, referencing Adeleke’s infrastructure development and community initiatives.
The governor encouraged Osun residents to resist the return of what he described as “darkness” by supporting Adeleke for another term. “Stick with Imole; it’s working and will continue to work,” he urged, using Adeleke’s nickname.
Makinde also highlighted the bond between Oyo and Osun states, rooted in shared culture, language, and governance ideals. “In the South-West, we are the true progressives. Together, we will continue to lead with integrity and deliver for our people,” he affirmed.
Also, Governor Adeleke expressed gratitude for Makinde’s presence, describing it as a reflection of their strong partnership. “This collaboration between our states represents a shared commitment to improving the lives of our people,” Adeleke said.
Furthermore, Makinde’s remarks come amid his broader advocacy for true federalism and better governance in Nigeria, signaling a united front between Osun and Oyo in championing people-centric leadership.
