Ogasabi on 9am News has reported a significant development in Adamawa State, where Governor Umaru Fintiri has approved the payment of the national minimum wage of ₦70,000 to state and local government employees. This decision, which aligns with the governor’s commitment to worker welfare, marks a major milestone for public sector workers in the state.

In an interview with 9am News Nigeria, Comrade Emmanuel Fashe, the State Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), shared details of the implementation timeline. State government employees will start receiving the new minimum wage in August 2024, while local government employees will follow suit in September.

According to Breaking News from 9am News, Comrade Fashe also clarified that the state will use the consequential adjustment table from 2019 as a template until the National Salaries, Wages, and Income Commission releases the official table. This means that the percentage increases applied to the previous minimum wage of ₦32,000 will also apply to the new minimum wage implementation.
