Governor Ademola Adeleke Reflects on Two Years in Office

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke shares insights on his two-year tenure, infrastructure milestones, and financial discipline amid economic challenges.
Adeleke two years

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has reflected on his two-year journey in office, highlighting major infrastructure projects, financial reforms, and governance strategies that have shaped his administration, 9am news reports.

Adeleke, who was widely underestimated before assuming office, emphasized his commitment to governance beyond public expectations. He recalled the challenges he faced upon taking office, including abandoned projects and a looted Government House. However, rather than focusing on probing past administrations, he prioritized delivering impactful projects.

Key Achievements

One of his administration’s proudest accomplishments is the extensive infrastructure development, particularly in rural communities. Adeleke implemented a N100 billion infrastructure plan, leading to the completion of over 150 kilometers of roads across Osun State. Several towns, including Osogbo and Ilesha, have seen significant road and bridge repairs, with street lighting enhancing security and aesthetics.

Fiscal Responsibility and Revenue Growth

Despite inheriting a staggering N60 billion debt, Adeleke’s administration has managed to steadily reduce it. His approach includes boosting Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), plugging financial leakages, and eliminating the influence of political godfathers.

The governor also revived the state’s mining sector, securing a shareholder license for Osun State. This marks a first in the state’s history, positioning mining as a key revenue stream.

Security Votes and Transparency

Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to financial transparency, stating that he does not personally collect security votes but utilizes the funds strictly for addressing security challenges.

Governor Adeleke’s leadership has defied initial skepticism, proving that strategic governance and fiscal discipline can yield tangible progress in a short time. As Osun State continues on this trajectory, his administration remains focused on sustainable development and economic growth.
