Turkish giants Galatasaray have once again expressed strong interest in securing Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen on a permanent basis ahead of next season, with club officials suggesting that finalizing the move now hinges on “just details.”
According to the 9am News report, Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on loan last summer after an unsuccessful permanent transfer from Napoli, has flourished in Turkey. The 26-year-old has racked up 22 goals and 5 assists in 26 Süper Lig appearances this season and has also impressed in the Turkish Cup, helping the Yellow-Reds push for a domestic double.
Despite ongoing rumors of a potential move to the English Premier League (EPL), Galatasaray’s General Secretary, Eray Yazgan, stated that while Osimhen’s permanent signing is possible, the focus remains on finishing the current season strong.
“First of all, let’s all enjoy watching a player like Victor Osimhen in the Super League this year. Then, if the conditions are right for both our club and the player, it can happen,” Yazgan told HT Spor.
“Our sole concentration right now is on completing the season with two trophies. The rest is just details.”
Osimhen’s loan deal expires at the end of the season, with his Napoli contract featuring a significant €75 million (£63.2 million) buyout clause.
In a related transfer update, former France international and Premier League star William Gallas shared his belief that Osimhen could thrive in England, identifying Manchester United as an ideal destination.
“I think Victor Osimhen can become a star in the Premier League, he has the right profile,” Gallas told Prime Casino via GiveMeSport.
“He can stretch play and the backlines, allowing other attackers to exploit spaces. He’d be useful for any Premier League club.”
Gallas noted the typical adaptation period required by foreign players but pointed out that even the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo needed time to settle in the EPL.
“It all depends on the club. If Arsenal need instant results, they need someone ready immediately. Manchester United, however, might afford Osimhen the time he needs to grow into the league.”
As Osimhen’s impressive season nears its climax, the transfer battle for the prolific forward promises to intensify in the coming months.
